Thought it might be interesting to throw this question out.

As travelers who photograph, do you consider selling to stock photography sites?

Or do you think you are selling your rights away for the chance of a few cents?

Well, I've thought about it tons, seeing as I have thousands of transparencies and now even more digital files these days. I have even bought books about it...however that was 10 years ago. Today, the market is saturated with every option of photographic image you can imagine. If you have the ability to dump your crappers off somewhere for a few cents, than I see nothing wrong with this. There is a lot of bad stock photography out there for very dirt cheap. But there is also a plethora of decent images as well. It's an extremely competitive game. When you sell the right to your photo, you will have to choose to option you are selling it for...unlimited rights? or do you get an agent to represent you where you still own the rights to the image, but sell the usage of that image through an agency. yYou can always hope to be discovered online! Getty Images has an agreement with flickr for surfing images to find the next best thing! There are several threads about stock photography on this site as well that might answer your question too!
