Costa Rica is small...but not so small that you can reduce it to one statement...The Night Life in Costa Rica is.....

Now, my opinion is that San Jose has no real decent night life. In fact, unless you are looking for hookers(if that is what you are looking for, you are in LUCK) I don't really see ANY night life.

Jaco is all night life...except for the working girls. There are tons of clubs there. The Beatle Bar always looks busy. Don't go there. All those people in there are hookers. Except for the men in there, who are looking for hookers. All those chicks hanging around outside? Transvestite hookers.

Puerto Viejo is sort of bohemian fun in the right season. Off season....dead

Arenal area. Not much really

Quepos. Two bars in town. A dozen or so fun places on the way to Manuel Antonio. That seems okay for dancing and the like.

Tamarindo...You like your surfer chic? Look for that kind of thing in Tamarindo.

That's about the extent of my knowledge.

thankyou, that is very helpful, thankyou for your time.

i would be happy with just small beach bars and things like that although clubs would be cool.. what is the main season in CR, we are planning on going in October which i think off the top of my head is moving towards the end of the wet season? good for surf at least but would like a bit of sun.

have recently been to Goa for a few days whilst in India, off season, was mainly dead but still had some great nights just great being in another place.

and no i wont be looking for hookers lol, tho i have heard there are many.

The thing about wet season, in my experience, is that it rains every day. Not that it rains ALL day. There is sun to be had

yeah i found the same in Thailand, we thought maybe rain would ruin some things (it sorta did the phi phi islands), however we found that mostly it just rained at a particular time, fvery heavily, but not usually for over an hour.

Right now is a perfect tie to go to Costa Rica since it is still summer time there.

I would not go there at the end of March and early April since it will be Semana Santa there and everything is closed insce everyone is on vacation for a week.

The beaches will be packed and unless you made reservations a few month ahead of time you can forget about finding somewhere to stay.

The nightlife is great. Try El Pueblo bit only during week nights otherwise it will be jam packed.

If you like Jazz and other types of live entertainment try the Jazz Cafe in San Pedro. Its a blast and that place is always packed.

If you like heavy metal then I suggest you go to Sands in San Pedro.

-snip- Costa Rica was amazing! If you're not a lame ass.. you'd love El Pueblo, any time. And for you wimps, bring a rain coat.

[ Edit: Hmm, let's try and keep it friendly please... ]

You will find the best nightlife of Costa Rica in San Jose! It is just not easy to find the good spots. There are some good places downtown and more in Santa Ana, Heredia and Escazu.

If you are into electronic music go to Vertigo or Utopia. In Heredia are many discos and bars where students hang out. El Pueblo is an option if you want to go to a place with several options. This is a website with some nightlife information: http://www.whereincostarica.com/parties
