We are planning on going to California in 2010 and we are starting to look at the prices of flights etc. We are planning to go for 14 days and there are 2 adults plus a 17 year old. The main things we think we want to do are Hollywood, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, beaches, Maybe a baseball or football game, san deigo zoo and possible the grand canyon. Can u recommend how long we should go for to do all that?

At least 3 weeks! I did it last year in 2 weeks and it was a killer ...

We did Hollywood for 3 days then drove to Vegas for another 3 days, flight to San Fran for 2 days then drove back towards LA one night in Monterey, one in Santa Barbara, then last 4 days back in LA in Long Beach!!!

I really wish we had staye the extra week and kicked back a little. We didnt take in half the sites we wanted just because we were so tired.

Pm me if you want any advice :)

Yeah, nics26 is right. The problem is that you want to take some time going from LA to San Francisco (or vice-versa)--meaning taking at least 4 days or so--and then you need to realize that you need about 3 days for SF and at least 3 for La--and then you need a day each way to Las Vegas, 3 days there--and another 2 days minimum to go to the Grand Canyon and back (and more if you want to see other parts of the southwest).

It all adds up--and is worth it--especially the areas between SF and LA--and the southwest areas out near the Grand Canyon, like Monument Valley, Lake Powell, and Bryce Canyon.
