Hi. It has been a dream of me and my friend to move to england. We want to live in a small town cottage area. But we have no where to start looking. We both are very artsy people. My friend being into writing, fashion, makeup and hair dressing. Me playing the flute and writing. Where would be a good place for us to start our dreams in england?

Probably a city. Unfortunately at the moment times are hard over here. People are losing their jobs left, right and centre and business' are closing all over the place. your best bet of finding a job in England now would be in the urban areas. Sorry it's not that helpful, but you'll have trouble finding a job in a small town. Trust me, I live in one and there aren't many job vacancies around here for anything. My old man lost his job just before Christmas and he beat out over 30 applicants for his new job and that's only a nine-to-five in a high street camera shop for £13k a year.

I agree there are not many jobs at all especially in fashion, make up and hairdressing. Where I live 3 hair salons have shut down over the last 3 months. If you want to make money writing you wont find much paid work in a rural area your best bet will be in a city, but even there you will probably only find small freelance journalism jobs which dont pay very much and arent regular. My friend is a freelance journalist and has now resorted to writing for free to build up her portfolio while she works in a bar during the night.
You probably best staying where you are at the moment and waiting for the credit crunch to die down!
