From what I've read it seems to be more of a young-adult kind of trip, for people in their mid-twenties. Or at least, this seems to be who they are marketing to. This doesn't mean they'd be bad for kids, per se, but I pretty sure they are not marketing towards them. In my opinion, you could probably get a train pass and get more choice of where you want to go for cheaper. You can also stop however many times you want (I noticed that the busabout tours only allow you 6 stops, and charge you for additional ones). However the busabout tours do have movies in their coaches and guides you can talk to, which may make your trip easier (the movies especially for entertaining your kid).

Also, I think its great you are bringing your kid travelling with you! :) When/if I have kids, I would like to do the same.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it very much. Im still not sure what to do but sounds like the train may be a good option.....I am going to check it out. anyone else got an opinion for me

I am a bit nervous traveling but I think we should be ok. I think it will be a wonderful adventure for both of us. Just trying to be smart and not get into situations that are inappropriate/stupid/dangerous etc.

IIRC busabout had a strict "no people under 16" rule.

I personally would not use a even a semi-tour like busabout. I would either rent a car and take camping gear or use the train and stay at small private pensions. This would be far more economical and more suitable to you both.
