Hi, I'm gonna be staying in a hotel in the Geylang area. 10/12 Lorong to be exact.

I was wondering how close geylang is to the airport and the methods of transport that are available.

Geylang is just somewhere nearby the city area. you can take MRT from Airport (there is a MRT service from Airport) to the nearest MRT station and just walk or take a bus to reach your hotel. if you wish to take taxi, you can check for the fees first before you enter the taxi. is about half an hour if you taking car. if taking MRT and bus, it takes about an hour for you to reach your hotel. view the singapore map at and get more detail or go to this website which is providing fully bus guide, or view the MRT guide as well. go to google and search for this few key words "Singapore MRT guide", "Singapore bus guide" or " singapore road map", you can find lot of information about any place you want to travel in singapore. singapore is a well plan and well arrange city with every good public transport system. with MRT and bus, you can travel every place in singapore, and for their taxi charges also is reasonable and very good service. you can do complaint if you are not satisfied with their service like over charge etc. it is a very friendly country, you can even ask the bus driver or any staff in the transport station to assist you. wish have best time in Singapore.

Hi Lucas,

I suggest that you take a taxi from the airport to your hotel if your budget allows. nearest MRT station from your hotel is not really within walking distance cos Geylang Lorong 10/12 is between 2 MRT stations - Kallang and Aljunied. So if you have heavy luggage may want to consider taxi.. Taxi fare should not be more than S$15 (about US$9).

All taxis in Singapore go by meters. However, you need to pay aiport surcharge of about S$3 (weekdays) or S$5 (weekends) for taxis hired at airport..

Geylang is not within walking distance from Changi Airport. Also, don't think there's any direct bus from airport to your hotel area.

Hope this info helps ;)

Agree with Don, it shouldn't be too expensive to get down by cab. The problem with Singapore MRT system is that it doesn't reach to every corner of the island, so it'll be troublesome with luggages to catch the MRT then the bus.

The cab ride should take about 20 mins, depending on traffic conditions. Geylang is considered on the east side of Singapore, likewise the airport.

Have a good time in Singapore!

Thanks heaps for your replies, they've been extremely useful. We will probably end up getting a taxi as that seems fairly cheap, between 3 of us anyway.
