Question for everyone...
Who is buying what.. single or return?
On most trains in Europe, I buy return because they are cheaper.
But I think you are talkinga bout planes. I always buy single. Because then I can change my itinerary or stay longer than I thought, or just never come back (that last one hasn't happened yet) I have never been asked about an onward ticket ever.
Booked a single for my flight to australia in september
when it possible - i take a one-way ticket. ( love my freedom too much..lol)
Anyway, for better price or another reasons (timeable, various deals when you cant buy a single, but only return ticket, etc) i accept round trip as well
Depends on whether or not you're coming back the same day.
As regards a flight, it's possible to buy an "Open Jaw" return ticket which allows you to return from a different airport than the one you arrived at. But generally speaking, a return ticket is a lot cheaper than a single regardless of the means of transport.
I believe some airlines may refuse to fly you to certain destinations if you haven't got a ticket for an onward flight, or a return ticket.
