Pat from DigitalVagabonding is running a competition Travellerspoint members might be interested in participating in - a Digital Roads Scholarship, a three month crash course in vagabonding across North America.

If you feel you have what it takes to drive into the unknown and write and photograph it, you are encouraged to apply.

The prize is a 3 month stipend of $1200/month to travel across North America from June to September this year and share your articles and photos on, and our own Travellerspoint. You will also receive a ticket to the Burning Man Festival in the first week of September. Two runners-up will also get tickets to Burning Man, so don't despair if you don't win the ultimate prize.

To enter, visit DigitalVagabonding and fill out your application.

More details and background story for the competition can be found on this page on DigitalVagabonding

We would love to see an existing Travellerspoint member take out this prize. Heck, we'd be more than a bit jealous if you did :) You will need to enter by the 8th of May, so best to get busy with it sooner rather than later.

Good luck

Note - Applicants must be 18 years or older and have a valid drivers license. The ideal Roads Scholar will have great writing and photography skills and be creative and resourceful.

Peter and the Travellerspoint Community,

Thank you for helping us get the word out to talented and adventurous writers about the digital vagabonding "Roads Scholarship". This will be a shared adventure, with the scholar living and writing the adventure, while this travel community shares the ride online. I hope it will be a great ride with many serendipitous turns in the road that finally winds its way to the one week Burning Man Festival held the first week of September in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

There in the city of vagabonds (Black Rock City), the Digital Vagabonding Tribe will host a graduation party for the scholar. I expect Ed Buryn himself, the author of "Vagabonding in the USA", will be on hand to act as the dean of vagabonding and present the diploma :-) The party will be an opportunity for all of us to cross paths not only online but in person.

If you have a burning passion to create adventure and then write, photograph and video tape it we want to hear your proposal. The background and guidelines are at Roads Scholarship.

Onwards and Upwards, Pat the Digital Vagabond
