My traveling partner and I will be in Oregon early June. Since I have not camped in Oregon before I was looking for a few recommendations. Isolated out of the way spots would be great. I don't want to pitch my tent next to an RV. we will be doing a counter clockwise loop from Portland, covering a good amount of territory, I would be willing to go out of my way for something really great. Thanks gang!

I live in Oregon but I've never camped here. It can be pretty cold until 4th of July - bring your long Johns! I would get a campground next to one of our great rivers (The Rogue, Deschutes, or McKenzie to name a few) and we also have good beach camping. Camping is very popular here, so book early for the best. I did look up a few links for you:

The coastal town of Bandon has a few RV parks located within the town limits. There is another very nice scenic campground a few miles north on the Highway to Coos Bay. The view of the Pacific Ocean at Bandon is a delight! Bandon also has a famous cheese factory open to the public, a nice marketplace with good restaurants and a golf course overlooking the Pacific. And in my experience, it is often warmer in Bandon than say, Medford or Klamath Lake.

Also, consider Treehouses Resort, an all-treehouse resort in southern Oregon just across from the northernmost of California's redwood parks.

And another thing to consider is anywhere near the Gorge (Columbia River) about 80 miles east of Portland--but maybe a few miles farther east to avoid crowds.

I also agree with the idea of near small Oregon coastal towns.

So Post#2#.... Is that why you all party on 4th July, cos it's hot - but on the 3rd, it's cold?? Wow - what a sudden climate change. Is that the same every year??
