Haha, im just kidding Keith - its cool! Hell, it will be 10x worse once ive actually experienced it going to need dragging back to the airport!

I thought as much, is it mostly visitors from Europe you get? or do you find sydney is the epicentre for everyones new years celebrations?

I've been slowly watching those figures rise, cant believe we have grown to the most looked at and active thread in the Oz/Nz section...possibly in most other sub-forums as well! Congrats everyone - shows the kind of commitment and like mindedness we have here!

Back to work for me, cant wait to finish!

hi, Im Paul, i posted early on in this thread, since have been pretty quiet, (work sucks!) but would be defo up for camping NY in Sydney, I have made my mind up!

looking to land in sydney 28th Dec, so what sort of price or planning am i looking at?

many thanks!

Hi Paul, sorry its taken a little while to get back to you! Of course you are more than welcome to join us - people will be around from the 23rd and all bookings have been taken care of. Just confirm your attendance and date of arrival just so we have an idea of numbers! Also, i guess as this is becoming more and more popular, you will probably just need to quote 'travellers point' when you check in in order to get directed to us! The price to add an extra person to our pitch is just $10 AUS per night, so the more we have the cheaper it becomes. It will probably average around $12 AUS, so if you stay till the 2nd - 6 nights = $72 AUS! Now you cant argue with that

Thanks once again Keith, the source of our invaluable Oz advice! But dude, easy on the description - itll drive me mad waiting that long! Also major kudos have to go to Tim, cheers man - hope everything is awesome with you. Australia is the one country ive always wanted to visit, cant believe its happening! Bopoked my flight out to Beijing yesterday, then the nbest ive been able to find from Singapore to Sydney has been ~£223.

Haha this is going to be one crazy experience! Dont know about the rest of you, but i keep flshing between moods of - 'hell yeah' to 'oh crap, im not organised yet'! I think i know what people mean when they say these kind of things can be life changing, especially now im flying solo! Any other pre-trip thoughts?

Take it easy all

nice one, that sure is a good price! so if we roll up at the site on the 28th we are inrd t? where is it specifically? are there good places to buy cheap camping gear as we will buy when there id imagine...

myself and my mate more than likely...

best new year ever on the cards then!

Hey Mike.
Mainly visitors from Europe & UK. And Sydney is definitely one of the best places to be for New Year!

Hi Paul.
Are you just camping or will you have a vehicle?
Should be okay for you to arrive on the 28th........ But I need to start being careful about late arrivals/people only staying a couple of days. Normally by that date we would be turning people away.
We will get to the stage soon where we just won't be able to fit anymore people in.
We don't have peak rates so the price you & your friend would pay would only be about A$10.00 each per night.
But, I have to ensure I have room for you. And I need to know you're going to be there. Or not. Still have a bit of time before you need to commit 100% though.
To get to us, refer to our website: All the directions you need.
And not far from us is a huge shopping centre where you can buy any camping gear you need (depending what time of day you arrive. Open until 9pm on a Thurday, 6pm Mon to Fri. About 4pm Sat & Sun).
Keith :)

Should be fine Paul.
We'll squeeze you in somewhere!:)

Hey Guys,

Found this thread by chance and, by virtue of Keith's lyrical site descriptions and everyone's general enthusiasm, recognised the recipe for a great New Years!
Myself and two friends (Conor and Ste) will be in Sydney during this time as part of a rtw trip and realise how rare it is to find such affordable accomodation around new year. Similarly, we're really exicted at the prospect of sharing such a great base from which to explore the city with a group of like-minded travellers and it would be great if you could find room for three more small ones! We'd hope to stay from the 23rd Dec to the 2nd Jan and should be in one tent with no vehicle (so shouldn't take up too much space!).

Thanks in advance for your consideration, ofcourse, we appreciate that that you might not be able to fit us in at this stage but look foreward to your reply anyway,

thanks everyone, Daniel.

Hello and welcome Daniel!

Great to hear that you are interested in joining us - it truely is shaping up to be one to remember! I know we definately have space on my booking; from the 23rd till the 27th, and i do believe there will also be room on Tims!
Any idea roughly how many spaces are remaining Keith? I know there are a couple of people who have expressed interest and not got back to us. When i get a lil time, I will compile a list of those definately in attendance and also their date of arrival, just so we know exactly what we are working with!

When and where is it the three of you begin your adventure Dan?, we seem to be growing at least one person a week - by the time it hits christmas, we may need the whole park Keith ;)

Morning Everyone!

Sorry I haven't been logging on and responding to post as much as I should be (thanks Mike for taking care of a lot of QnA), so my bad!

Welcome to the new peeps in the group! There is always room for more and I think we will make out when the number gets to 30 people as Keith has us 2 spots so far and 1 in reserve, so that's 3 spots total. I believe we have 1 campervan on site so that can handle a lot of the security issues but like Keith has managed, it's a pretty secure spot and I can't imagine people going through our tents.

When it comes to arrivals and what not, people can arrive anywhere between Dec 23rd and Jan 1st - We all pack up and head out on the 2nd. On the 28th or the 27th, I forget, all the camp sites will be merged and we'll be one big group and should be fairly easy to find. I've created a sign to put at our area to let people know where this is the right group. When you arrive, you have to pay then. I need to speak with Keith and sort out how we are going to handle that. It may be that I pay for all the sites and people up front, then as you arrive he will collect the money and write your name down as paid-off. I'll collect it afterwards. Or we pay individually and you can't access the camp grounds till you have. But again, Keith and I will talk about that separately and let you all know the details. The more people we have less it will cost, so spread the word!

For any newcomers, you can filter through this thread as much questions have been asked and answered. It's a lot to read, but after you go through it all, you'll know just about everyone going and feel like you know what's going on. Of course you can ask question if you like and one of us will answer. I may put up some FAQs on the first page of some of the common questions to help filter those as well. What you new comers will see as well, is through some of these pages we have all listed our Facebook emails. So you can grab those and contact is via that as well.

NOTE TO REMEMBER: You will NEED to bring camping gear! This includes tent, sleeping bag, pillow if you desire (some rolled up pants will do) and warmer clothes for nights. The days are said to be nice and HOT so the sleeping bags don't need to be the high durability ones. There are places you can rent this equipment and the links are provided on some of the earlier pages.

Alright, I hope I got this all down. Again, any questions just ask! And we welcome all new people to join in on the fun! I'll try to respond more but I do see all the new posts in my email, so I read all the stuff and will answer when I get back online.

Take care everyone and looking forward to meeting you all in person! I believe we all owe Keith a beer for his keeping up with the reservations and tent sites, so, so far you've got 12 pints coming your way bud. Hope you can have a few with us.

Great idea Tim about putting the main info at the top of the thread!
Personally though I don't know where anyone could hire camping gear. My opinion would be it would be more economical for people to buy what they need. But it depends how long they want to use it of course:)
One thing to include in the summary might be this Very comprehensive directions so everyone can get to us when they arrive.

Yeah Tim, I'll put some thought into an easy way to sort out the money. And no problems at all about helping out. My pleasure! The more the merrier. The atmosphere here is electric when we have a lot of people.
And for anyone who wishes to stay longer than the 2nd Jan it won't be a problem. Quite a few people stay a bit longer to do some work in Sydney at that time.
I second Tims suggestion about reading through the whole forum if you can. Heaps of info and questions answered.
Between Tim, Mike & myself we'll keep everyone up to date.
Temperature during the night at that time of year? Probably only down to 16 to 18(celsius) overnight.
Security of your own gear. If you need to, any valuables can be left with us in the office during the day. Office is open from 7.30am till 7pm at night. Drop off and collect between those hours if you need to secure anything. laptops, cameras etc.

Keep those questions coming! And remember to learn some Oz Trail Yen!
