Hi There,

Am planning on travelling to Singapore, then Thailand in January'05 and was wondering what was the best thing to do to avoid mosquito bites. I've heard Vitamin B1 tablets are good as well as repellent containing, Deet is it? Would it be best to get this before i go or will it be better/cheaper to get it when i arrive.

Any advice would be great.

The BOOTS pharmacy on Koh San Road in BK has a lot of mosquito repellant. I picked up a 50% DEET gel and it was the only thing that kept me from getting 50 bites a day when I was on the islands and in the north. If you're a person the bugs love, you're going to have to make DEET your friend, because B12 won't cut it.

Hi! I used Citronella spray when I was there...but repeat application is necessary after a few hours, and it STINKS. So guess DEET is better. ;) Good luck! Oh, and ear plugs cos they buzz round your ears at night...ew...
