Hi guys,
Im currently doing some research into which laptop I should take with me on a round the world trip. I realy dont want anything big or expensive, but I will be using it for research on the road and importing photos. Im thinking that the best way to deal with photos is to just save them to USB's and send them home.
The best laptop I can come up with that does a bit of everything is the Eee PC. Has anybody ever used one for travelling? Also has anyone got any other suggestions? Cheers
which laptop?
Hi there,
I haven't used a Ee PC but do use a sony TZ most of the time I'm away.
It is convenient to have a laptop with you but it does have some drawback also.
Depending on how long your away for will depend on what you take with you, remember weight is the biggest PIA when travelling, so you may not want to deal with taking a laptop.
If it's just photo's your wanting to deal with a card reader or similar may be of more use. Memory cards are fairly cheap nowdays, one suggestion is to upload at an internet cafe/hotel the ones you really want and just post the cards home or keep them with you.
Good luck

We just bought an Asus EEE PC 1005HA for traveling through Europe for one year. You can read our review of it on our blog: European Adventures
Oh, and so far, we love it!

I would second the EEE 1005HA from Asus, not too big not too small, plenty of storage, USB ports, wifi, and uber light! I personally use a 900A which is smaller but the 1005 would be good for you...
cool, cheers guys! Going to try and get hold of the 900a version as it wouldnt hurt to much if I lost/broke it!
