You might like to book your accomodation for new years as soon as possible, I know some people from here are organising a gathering if you're interested.

If you're arriving in December I'd head south while it's still warm and travel the northern part of Australia later in the year. You didn't mention how long you'd be here? My best advice is to research what you want to see, put it all on a big map and then figure out how you want to get there. If you're stuck for ideas check out my travel pics, they're all from Australia.

Hi Kirst.:)
There are 148 posts for the gathering of Travellers Point members in Sydney for New Years Eve (see link in earlier post). So if you don't want to read them all, here it is in a nutshell.
Not long ago, in a land far, far away, a young man called WebGuy (Timothy) saw the opportunity to organise some of the single people that would be in Sydney around the time of New Year's Eve. His idea was to get them all to meet up before Christmas at a campground & stay for a week or so to celebrate Christmas and see in the new year.
Well, it wasn't long and he had a couple of people join in. And then a few more, and a few more.....
Everyone is welcome so post to the forum if you want to join in. The campground will cost you about A$10.00 per night and it's close to the city but in a National Park.
I'm helping Tim organise numbers and dates. Quite a few people are arriving 23rd Dec and others will be arriving before New Year. Most people are from England and the ages seem to be from 20 to 26.

I represent the campground where everyone is staying but I'm also helping out with general advice and suggestions!:)
We get all nationalities staying here at new year so it's a really cosmopolitan experience but you're virtually camping in the bush! (with decent toilets and bathrooms).
Some people are meeting up before they leave, some people are meeting up on the road. But EVERYONE will meet up in Sydney to have a great time together.
Hope you can join the group:) This is the website for the campground: Have a good look around it, plenty of info.
