Getting a job in a foreign country is a little more complex than just arriving, you have to apply for a work visa to start with which usually requires a pre existing job to go to,there are illegal jobs that can be had if you know the right people but they are usually minimum wage jobs like working in farm fields picking fruit etc. also remember that any employer getting caught hiring illegal aliens faces stiff legal fines,so i'd sugest tapping your network of friends who are already here to hook you up with a temporary job,we call it "working under the table"
i travelled to whistler and banff last winter and worked the ski season. i think its pretty easy for australlians to get canadian working holiday visas (there were hundreds working in both resorts when i went), im from the uk and found jobs easily, just restaurants and resort shops, just on foot handing out resumes and speaking to people! Mid November is a good time to arrive, thats when most people are hiring!
