When you travel either few days or few months,
what type of camera do you take with you?
Personally, I feel DSLR is too bulky and heavy
to carry around with lenses, so I would go for high end
compact digital camera.

Ok. Go for it ! I really don't mean that in an insulting way.
Going back to the original question. I take with me what I think will give me the pictures I want. Personally, I've 5 cameras of different types. Depending on how I plan to travel, I select the gear. Meaning, plan your trip, then think about the camera.

Not nearly so scientific though!!
Anyway, I just wanted to make the point that it all starts from considering what you want to do rather than the equipment you use. There's lots of choices of equipment and technology out there.
My first trip, I took the only camera I had access to at the time, which was a 4 MP thing that we got for free. I still got some amazing photos from it When I was in Japan, I bought a new camera, a 10MP olympus compact, which I'm completely in love with, because it's tiny but still takes great quality photos. One day, I'd like to buy a DSLR, but at the moment the bulk is not worth it, for the trips I go on!
I take my DSLR and a compact camera for when I don't want to carry the big one! Where I'm going and how much of the time I am going to have to carry my gear decides what lenses to take - I have a 18 - 270mm lens that covers most things if I'm trying to keep the weight down You can get good pictures with a compact camera, but you can get amazing ones with a DSLR
Hi.. I use to carry my Digital cam.. NIxon 12.0 pixels.. it shoots nice...
If ia m going for long tour, i will take my Sony Handy Cam.....
Nikon coolpix s550, but i wish to have also SLR. Maybe some day, I'll buy one.
Hi.. It depends on the destination and also the time.. if I go to a city for 2-3 days. I don't spend my time by taking photos, for that reason I take small and light camera with me ..
