I've narrowed my choices down to three school I want to study abroad at next year in terms of the university. Now I need to figure out which city is going to give me the best experience. They're all big cities so obviously I'm looking for nights out and lots to do. Thoughts?

3 excellent study centres and cities.
Music and night life out of the three, one reigns supreme and that's Sheffield. However, Cardiff is much prettier and Leeds has more parks than the other two put together.

Hi Jagroves
I know and love Wales, so I'd say Cardiff.
But have a look on Google maps or Google Earth to see the surrounding coutryside/landscape - Wales has the most exquisite beaches. But in the north there are National parks for walking/climbing.
Try and get an idea of safety/crime too. English cities can be a quite exciting late on a Saturday night. But, hey, I have a 16 year old daughter, so I am maybe coming at it from a different viewpoint.

I'm gonna have to go for Leeds seen as I live and went to Uni here myself!

Leeds is great for nightlife and has an awesome student area (Headingley) with plenty of bars etc. In all honesty (with obvious bias!), I've been to many places for nights out in the UK and none of them come close to Leeds, with Edinburgh coming a close second. But I suppose that might be because I know the city well.

The only downside to Leeds IMO is the lack of options if you don't like to drink, other than the parks already mentioned. We don't yet have an arena for gig's like Sheffield and Cardiff have and the cost of tickets to see Leeds Utd play is a joke.

Don't know which of the Universities you have the choice of but Leeds has two great ones, Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan. Both have excellent facilities. Leeds university is the more academic choice and has a better reputation but Leeds Met has a far better and more successful sporting faculty.

Also, I'm sure I have read that Leeds has been the most popular city for a few years running for students who want to study away from home.

Hope this helps, Let me know if you have any questions.
