Hi me and my girlfriend are going to aus in 8 days we were planning on getting a campervan and travelling from cairns to sydney from october - december but things have changed. What are our options for travelling down the east coast now? we want to stop at airlie beach, harvey island, gold coast, surfers paradise, brisbane any suggestions? is it best to book in advanced with coachs etc?

Hey Mike!
If you can't buy a campervan I reckon it will still be worth your while to buy some sort of vehicle. A station wagon or something similar can still do the job you want. Even a sedan if you intend to pitch a tent.
It's spring now and coming down the coast the weather should be warm enough.
Second hand cars are pretty cheap in Oz. For two of you the cost for accommodation will likely be cheaper in camping areas and caravan parks than a lot of hostels.
And you can't go past the flexibility of having your own wheels.
Haven't much experience with bus travel unfortunately.
See you in December!:)
Cheers,
Keith
