Im flying to Dubai in February and was hoping to get a boat over to Iran.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Yes, there are ferries from Bandar-e Abbas to Sharjah (near to Dubai) twice a week. Foreigner pay 100 US dollars, doesn't matter one-way or return

Note that Iran (just like Syria) has some serious issues with Israeli entry stamp.
They also do not like to issue visa to British citizens, when you apply for the Iranian visa best use your Irish passport.
