Just we just got engaged and thought it would be fun to spend 3months backpacking.

As we both work allot, we where just thinking of how our relationshop would go.

Any pointers?

Backpacking with someone else requires making a lot of compromise (where to go, what to do and see, how long to stay at one place, your individual budget, etc.), but if you're willing to do that, than your trip should be a great experience for you and your fiancé. Have you thought about where to go yet?

Answer in a nutshell.. Do you both at this present time enjoy backpacking, or is it just an idea??

Like Steff says just be prepared to compromise a lot!

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 4 years now, we've been travelling for the last 16 months and we've nearly gone our separate ways on a number of occasions over one thing and another!

Make sure you both want the same thing from the trip... just sightseeing, trekking, adventure sports, relaxing on beaches or whatever so at least you are both sure you want the same experience otherwise you will have troubles from the start!

Having said all this though I would not have spent it with anyone else and I know that we'll always look back on everything we've done and be so glad we did it together. I figure it's always nicer to experience things as a pair (or group) so that you can both enjoy the things at the time and then discuss and reflect on them together afterwards. It's hard to tell people what amazing experiences you've had when they can't relate to it so at least you'll always have one person who will share in the joy!

You'll be fine so get out there and have a fantastic time :)

I traveled with a girl for a about a month and a half. It was great. Like the others said compromise is key....but I don't think that is a bad thing. Remember while you are gone for 3 months you don't have to be anywhere or do anything. So just go with the flow of it all, don't plan out some crazy itinerary and try to stick to it. if you are enjoying it a certain town a lot, stay there. Just don't get stressed thinking you need to see everything in order to have a good time.

Why does someone has to compromise while travelling with your partner???
Well, if you're engaged, i'll guess you two match pretty well together. I travelled 22 months with my wife, we're nearly ten years married, and we had the same problems, discussions, etc like at home, to say none!
Why would you have any problem travelling with your partner, you're on a holiday without any stress, fine weather, young people around you, interesting locals and a lot of stuff to see and to do, so no time to get bothered!

So, enjoy your travel and each other!

My boyfriend and I have learned that a great way to travel is to keep a loose agenda. We have a general idea of what we want to do and where we want to go, and we have basic things we'd like to do while on vacation. But if we don't make it to the next city down the road or spend as much time as we like at a national park, that's fine. We just enjoy the time we get to spend together in another place.

Well, if you are engaged, you should enjoy spending time with each other :-) Of course backpacking is something else than going in a resort and sit on the pool all day! Don't plan too much and make sure you've got enough time. If you try to put as much as possible in your trip, it gets annoying! You can always change the plans on the way, so relax and have fun!
