I am a US citizen and have a criminal record for embezzlement in the state of NM and need to get my passport to enter into England. I never spent any time in jail and has served 3 years of probation. I have been cleared from my time since 7/06. Would I have any problem receiving my passport and entering into England because of it. I am only staying in England for 2 weeks.
Entering the UK with a criminal record
Nahhhh, United States citizens don't require a visa to enter the United Kingdom. Type in "American Passport" on Wikipedia and it will give you an overview of which countries you need a visa for. You'll be okay.
Even though you don't require a visa, you will still have to fill out an immigration slip. Truthfully. Your past may cause you some hassle at immigration, but depending on the severity of the conviction, shouldn't be a reason to be denied entry.
If you think entering the UK is going to be a problem, one possibility is to enter Ireland first.
There is very little checking of documentation between Ireland and the UK.

And then you would have the same question but regarding Ireland instead of the UK..
... and the answer would be identical as well
