I can't stand anymore!!! I'm heading to India in February, I'm still at work, counting down the days...
Nothing seems to be important enough and I feel a knot in my throat just thinking about Feb.4th (the day I'm leaving)

You've travelled before, haven't you? in which case you'll probably have a better idea than me.

I leave on 5th Jan, starting in Thailand. I've never left Europe before so I'm pretty nervous. I know it'll be great though so i'm excited.

The thing thats stressful is all the things i have to organise...only about 15 days left at work so have loads to do here (so why am i always on TP) But like you, i can't think of anything other than my trip. I have to sort out moving house back to my parents (moving is stressful enough at the best of times) clearing up bills, direct debits ..then there's Christmas presents to buy, nights out to fit in before I go....

Everytime i see Christmas decorations I realise how little time I've got and how muchI have to do!!!

I have made countless lists, and have been trying to spend at least an hour each night tidying, packing or doing something on the list.

When you're doing a job you don't enjoy its just soooooooo hard to concentrate! All I want to do is surf the net, research places i'm going and faff around on TP.

Wish I knew what the best thing to do is!

get yourself in the right frame of mind, start looking at things in a different way-it really helps in the way that you go about things and it can make things less stressful, you've got one life and do you want to spend it getting stressed!?!!

yeh you've got to have your wits about you etc. but live your life-do things to suit number one-yourself, things happen and you realise that you want to make the most of the one life that you've got, so start living now!

As long as your happy-who cares! i've learnt that it's the best way to be if you want to get on in the world.

Nervousness and excitement both feel the same to me; they both invoke butterflies in my belly... So, when I think I feel nervous, I tell myself I'm not nervous at all, just REALLY excited... The only person you have to conince that the feelings are really of excitement and not of nervousness is yourself... Shouldn't be tooooo difficult... Should it..??

We coud always swap places / roles... You could come here and complete my degree for me, and I'll go to India for you...

Oops... I think I may have misunderstood... You're not nervous at all, are you..?

Never mind, we can still swap places / roles if you like... ;)

Michelle, the best thing you can do is relax. I'm going to India on the 13th Feb so ive just been messing around at work recently, i was feeling really down a month or two ago but now that its nearing departure day, ive decided to really enjoy myself before i leave. Ive decided not to wish the last couple of months away, but rather pretend that im already on holiday! It makes organising stuff less of a chore and more enjoyable. Work is even good craic because i dont really care about it now, i like coming in to the office to see everyone, safe in the knowledge that they wont see me for dust in February.

All the things that need organising just play on your mind, but trust yourself that they will all get done.....and go about enjoying everyday that you have left at home with everyone you know.

p.s. Stay on TP when you are in India and Nepal as well, because if you and your boyfriend are ever in the same town as my two friends and I, we'll meet up for a drink and congratulate ourselves on making it all happen.

Joe, you're soooo right! It's funny coming to work knowing that u won't be here in a couple of weeks!! And I haven't told anyone from work yet!!!

I'll definitely stay on TP, it'd be very nice if we all could meet there in India!

TP is so good, seems there are loads of you doing the same and experiencing the same feelings as me and my girlfriend.

We are leaving our jobs in London and heading RTW for 9 months. We leave from Heathrow on Feb 9th, first stop India and Nepal.

We're really looking forward to it and counting down the days - only 36 working days left! But just starting to get anxious. Have we got all the right vaccinations, do we have enough money, what about visas etc etc. The list seems endless.

But when you think about it, how hard can it be? People have been heading off backpacking for years, so it can't be that difficult.

I'm going with WeeJoe's recommendation = RELAX.

Great to meet any of you TP'ers whilst you're in India/Nepal.

Oh and LilLiz, Thailand is a great place to start your travels! The people are generally very friendly, you can easily get away with speaking English and the place is stunning (in parts anyway).

Hope you're flying into Bombay, then down to Goa. If you feel that Goa is fantastic, remember this is just a glimpse of how great Nepal is.

Kathmandu is hip and funky BUT Pokhara up in the mountains is even better !!! (You can a visa on arrival in Nepal)
