Does anyone know how I might get from Tabriz to Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan?
Ive checked all the guidebooks and online but cant seem to find any information about buses.
Does anyone know how this might be done?

Just by head: go through Turkey, as I have serious doubt about borders between Iran and Iraq being open.
You reckon? I spoke to someone recently who said it is open. This is a border in the far north - Kurdistan.
Do you have any recent knowledge that this crossing might be closed?
Im looking at the one near Piranshar

Hi,
It's like I said: purely by head, based on info I had been reading quite a while ago. If I remember correctly it was more a case of foreigners not able to cross, but locals could. It was a blog on the web. Maybe I run into it.
Getting quite interested now, I think I am going to do a search with you here
And check: I guess this will be quite helpfull for you
Thanks by the way: I learned something new myself now as well. Interesting destinations there mate. Hope you will have a good time. Please pm me when you finished that region travelling, like to go there myself one day.

Cheers Utrecht,
Ill PM you when I get back at the end of March with details.
It seems from posts on Thorn tree that that particular border crossing is open (apart from the Turkish one at Zakho it appears to be the only one open to non-locals).
Thanks again,
Mark
