Hi Ben,

Im also planning a trip around Asia at the moment.
(Basic plan is China, Tibet, S.Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines in one year)

From some feedback Ive had, Im budgeting around £20/30 a day for China and SE Asia,
Japan is more expensive, so more like £50 per day
It all depends on what kind of travelling you want to do (im trying to do cheap budget travel)
and where you want to stay (hostels/ hotels etc).

Where you go depends on what your interested in, Japan is deffo somewhere im looking forward to, and is culturally very interesting.
im sure you could easily spend 4 weeks travelling around Japan, but it depends on your budget.
I would suggest you do a little research on the areas that look appealing to you.

Have a look around the Asia forum to get inspiration on places to visit

Good luck with your planning.

SE Asia will give you more inspiration, surely! if you make a plan, get Vietnam, Thailand, Laos or Malaysia to your tour! you'll never be regret!

Greetings from Malaysia...

Travel via low cost airline like AirAsia.. book in advance ... I got my return flight tix to Stansted for less than GBP200.

Visit places of interest with no entrance fee such as the Petronas Twin Towers...

I strongly recommend you to try all varieties of food available in Malaysia...

If you're interested in Taiwan and Japan, I think you should realize they are rather expensive countries to begin with. Your money would go far far further in places like Indochina, Indonesia or Myanmar. I think you need to do a little more research, and be just a little more realistic about your resources.

Yet again someone says they want to go somewhere APART from the usual places in Asia (Thailand etc) and STILL people come on here telling him to go to Thailand or another SE Asian country.....He wants to go to JAPAN or TAIWAN! He wants ideas for cheap ways to travel around these countries, so can people not just try to help him without saying how Thailand is cheaper etc etc?
I love Thailand and other SE Asian countries but that is not the question.
