just to let you know im a 6ft,200llb,25 year old guy,and i felt pretty much the same..i landed in bangkok on my first time and was like, oooooooh my god, what the hell do i do now..stood there at the immigration control waiting to be accepted into thailand i was like s**t how have i ended up here...

anyway head to ko san road, taxi will drop you off there at the end of the street, then take a walk along ko san road and you will come across many hostels and hotels, get yourself booked into one, make sure you ask to see the room first, although you probably wont give a damm after a long flight....once youve got your head together you will soon find out your in the best place in the world to make freinds and i gurantee before youve even left your hostel or hotel you will have company,if not it wont be too far away,as you walk up and down ko san road you will notice your surrounded by fellow backpackers...

the only real con's you will come accross are usually the bloody tuk tuk and taxi first it will all seem a little daunting but after a few days you'll soon get the hang of it,make sure you always negotiate a price first or if your using a meter taxi,"the pink, green or yellow"ones ask for the meter on!!
when i went i thought is this really for me,i was so nervous about it all before i left but now im back in the u and cant wait to get back out there!!!!
just keep your whitts about you and dont worry too much, you'll be just fine..take it all in and enjoy..

Just to tell you, I am a shy Indian woman. Have you ever heard of an Indian woman doing solo backpacking?

Well, I did just that and am back from my 45 days trip of Malaysia & Thailand. I was told I am the first Indian woman to do so.

So I think anyone can do it. :)
