Ok so I'm now planning the 3rd (or 4th?!) leg of my trip. This being September in Asia (currently in Wellington NZ). Basically I have just under 3 weeks and the plan is:

KL - 2 nights
Ho Chi Minh - 4 nights
Beijing - 2 nights
Xi'an - 3 nights
Guilin - 2 nights
Hong Kong - 3 nights

But my dilemma comes down to 1 night - should I spend 3 nights in Beijing and shave 1 night off Hong Kong or leave it the way it is, 3 nights in Hong Kong, 2 nights in Beijing. Unfortunatly we have quite a tight time frame so I, as much as I would like to, i can't add any extra days :(

I should mention - the 3rd day we will be spending in Beijing and then getting the overnight train to Xi'an so we will have a full other day there.

What does anyone think?

I would spend the extra day in Beijing. You would want to do the Great Wall, which is a full day, and Tiananmen, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven etc is another day, then have a day to see some of the other sites.

Hi,
Three nights in Beijing would be better. There are more ancient culture treasures worth a visit. Great Wall,Ming Tomb(two spend 1 day), Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, etc.
Hope you have a nice trip.

I would definitely recommend having the extra day in Beijing rather than Hong Kong.

I would also recommend an extra day in Beijing. There is more to see, as mentioned above, than there is in HK. Have a good trip!

Hi ,

May I have an idea why you would like to spend 3 nights in Hong Kong?
In fact, 2 nights is quite enough here.
As you may know, Hong Kong is not that big and not that much sightseeing you can see here. (But we have a lot of shopping mall=__=)

3 nights in Beijing is much better. Lot of the historical sightseeing there and it will not be too tight for your trip. You will not see too much if you visit Beijing 2 nights only!

Enjoy!

I think you would enjoy Hanoi much more than Ho Chi Minh City!

I agree with that part as well, I enjoyed Hanoi far better than Ho Chi Min. Hanoi is incredibly charming and the street-life there is just amazing, street-side kitchens on every corner!

Hello,
My name is Allen, and i come from the hometown of Terra-cotta Warriors,Xi'an,China. In my opinion, you should spend much longer time in Xi'an or Beijing.Acutually, when you are doing the tour in China, you need to visit Beijing,Shanghai and Xi'an,because Beijing is our capital,Shanghai is one of the most developed cities in China and Xi'an is regarded as one of the most famouse ancient capitals in China. In my opinion,Beijing and Shanghai are too modernized ,prababally there are no difference bettween them and Newyord,London. But Xi'an is a combanation of the history and modernization, from here ,you may see the real life of Chinese people since Xi'an is not that highly developed like Beijing and Shanghai.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
