H Gail, yeah i'm ok thanks. Working loads of overtime at the moment so i'm totally shattered but it's all about the money! I might have to throw a spanner in the works unfortunately. There's a possibility of me doing some prison work just near perth and i might head there first to check it out which means i wouldn't be doing the harvest work. I really don't know at the moment what i'm gonna be doing, it's all a bit up in the air. Sorry to be a useless cow! There's no way i can go earlier because of my friends wedding anyway. I'll have a better idea in a few weeks but i understand you want to get things organised asap. Oh the drama!! On the plus side i found a fabulous holdall on wheels for thirty quid that i may invest in! Plenty of room of high heels and make up ha xx

Hey thats really good news for you, if you do the prison work do you think they might keep u on permenantly, that would be a dream could true, but what will you do about your 2nd yr visa if it doesnt work out at the prison, would you be able to use your work there as part of your time worked,
Good to hear about the holdall, if you like it go buy it, and start filling it with them high heels of yours lol. xx

It wouldn't count towards the visa but could turn into something more so it's a chance i might have to take. I don't know yet. And you're right, it's time to purchase the holdall ha ha xx

Hi Girls,

Have you sorted your travel insurance yet? I'm still finding it a complete nightmare! Plus I recently found out this temp job I'm doing doesn't give me holiday pay in addition to my hourly rate (unlike Reed) so that's really screwed with my finances - I am not a happy bunny at the moment!!

Louise - looks like you'll be my side of Oz to start with then - Gail why not start with Perth first too??

I'm sorry but I'm so not with you guys on the whole veggie picking and seasonal work stuff! I'm too old for all that bending over (if it's not involving a man then it's just not worth it ) and I def wouldn't be able to afford going without proper work. What I am considering doing instead is getting a NZ working holiday visa before I hit 31 next year and then heading across to there once my year is done in Oz - is that worth considering? Might take the stress outta the whole thing for you!

Hey Jess, i'm not a happy bunny either. Found out today i've been turned down for redundancy so very short of cash now! Better hammer the overtime! Not sorted anything else out yet, flight, insurance, nothing. I think i agree on the fruit picking thing, i might give it a miss. I'm so up in the air at the moment i don't know what i'm doing ha. I need to book my flight badly. Just waiting for pay day! Once i've got my flight i'll feel better. My plan today is fly into sydney, have a couple of weeks holiday, then take it from there ha. Possibly fly over to perth to check out possible job opportunities. If not fly up to cairns and start working my way down. Bearing in mind that by tomoro i'll probably have a different plan ha ha xx

Hi Lou

Im so sorry to hear about the redundancy falling through, i bet you are feeling rather devastated at the moment, but dont let this new hurdle set you back on your plans, as remember you have wanted to do this for so long, so dont let this jeopadise your dreams. xx

Thanksgail, i'm trying not to be too gutted but i'm pretty annoyed about it. I'll get over it. I can still live the dream down under so it's all good. Have you booked/arranged anything else yet? Xx

No not yet, i am in this head space at the mo where i just cant decide what to do, or what i am feeling about the whole situation, with regards to the..
fruit picking
will i be gutted if i cant stay another 12 months
do i just book my flight and hope for the best
Do i go, have a fabulous 12 months then come back and try and make some sort of life for myself here
( see what i mean i am just turning myself round in circles ) xx

I totally understand, i'm the same. Part of me thinks i'd love to get the second visa, but then i think i wanna just kick the arse out of it for a year then see what happens. Also what if we spend three months fruit picking, working our arses off, then don't/can't get the second visa for some reason? Then there's only nine months to do the stuff we could've done in twelve??? I'm going round in circles too xx

I tell you what i feel like im on a roundabout with no exits in some funny Benny Hill Sketch show lol,
but i have just been thinking about what Jess has put in her post about going to New Zealand for the 2nd year, i had not thought about that option but i guess it would always be an idea to fall back on.
I was taking to my mum last nite and she said the same about going for the 1st year having a totally awesome time and just seeing what happens when we is there, she made laugh and said we might meet some hunky aussie men with lots of money, fall in love, get married and then we could forever spend our days lazing by the infinity pool in the back garden sipping cocktails to our hearts content, lol lol lol xx
