Hi all,
just after some advice....i've recently had people say that they think ill be too young to go to europe for 3-4months when im only 16(will be 17 when i go). A comment like that won't stop me from going!! I have already been to Italy, America, Thailand and seen plenty of Oz. In these travels, I haven't had any problems, although i was travelling in a group in the past, this trip ill be with only one friend. So even though that comment isnt going to stop me going, i just thought id ask some travellers what sort of things i should be careful of. eg what to wear, religions, small group etc
Any suggestions would be great!!

I know a couple of girls that travelled Europe for a few weeks/month as 17 year olds. They also had some previous travelling experience by the way which will definitely help. The main thing to 'worry' about is whether you and your friend will be on the same line the whole time and how that will go.... that's the most common thing to occur. Other than that, you have to be sensible about it, what you do, where you go when etc but I am sure there are plenty of people telling you that already :)

Be clever. Don't take any unnecessary risks. Try to get to your destinations with accommodation already arranged, or get there early morning, its miserable arriving to a strange place at night without a guaranteed bed.

Bear the dangers in mind but don't worry too much, you'll have a great time!

if you think you might be too young, you probably are. If you think you'll cope fine, you absolutely will.

Be clever, use common sense and know when your getting in over your head (or close to it). Be careful with alcohol/drugs/anything els eyou may try and experiement with and go overboard with, but basically, it's similar things to home. If you wouldn't do omething/go somewhere in Oz at a certaoin time/for a reason, use the same logic to avoid it in Europe.

Btw, this question has come up a good few times over the past year or so, so do a few searches in the TP archives and see what you get. There's one in thread particular i'm thinking of which was quite long and had a lot of good advice, but unfortunately don't have time now to find it. Will try and have a look later if i rememeber.
