1) There're no flights from Luang Prabang to Phonsavon on the day I'm planning to head there, so I'm wondering if anyone knows about bus schedules, or what's the best way to find out when I'm there?
What I've read tells me that the journey takes anything from 5 to 10 hrs, which seems like a ridiculous difference!
2) Should I book flights on Laos Air in advance over the net, or book via a travel agent when I arrive there? Remember reading somewhere that it's much cheaper the second way...

I have heard bad things about Air Lao. Not the safest.
