Anyone have any names for a good place to get insurance? I'm going round the world for 1 year. Generally where there have been a few options, i'll go with a more thorough level of cover because I'd rather be safe than sorry - but would anyone recommend a particular insurance company for year long travel insurance?
Also, does anyone particularly recommend going with the insurance from the company you booked with? RTWExperts have a deal that's more expensive than others, but I wonder if it's good to keep everything in one place so people can't pass the buck if it's a case of missed flights for example.
Ideas welcome!

We have used 3 different companies. We started with ACE travel insurance - these are quite strict now and you have to begin and end your trip within the UK. If you put in a claim with them they will want all the evidence of this.
The other companies we have used - because we are outside of the UK and renewing (ie we haven't returned back at the end of our trip) - are World Nomads and DownUnder Insurance. We have claimed with World Nomads and have to say they were fantastic, very efficient and bent over backwards to help us submit ownership evidence by e-mail etc. We now use DownUnder Insurance but only for medical cover as we have found there are so many exclusions to personal belongings being covered with all insurance companies, it's just not worth it. Medical is the most important and (touch wood) we have never had to claim on this.
Another company is Insure and Go but not too sure how good they are.

I just done mine through insure and go....when you are ready to pay if you go online and go through each stage get your quote and then right when it asks for payment save it and close it...you will get a call within an hour from an agent asking if everything was okay with it....if you say you want to get one today but are not sure they will knock 10% off online quote...if you then say you got less than that they will prob match it as well for you. worked for me.
