HI There,

I'm thinking about taking off for a week somewhere maybe in July. But i
don't know where to go!!!
My criteria is that it isn't too expesive or difficult to get there from
That it isn't a a complete tourist trap.
I might be heading on my own ( not sure yet) so I suppose a bit of sun &
sea would be good and somewhere that is relaxing but also that I
wouldn't get really bored on my own.
Finall I'm a girl that might be on her own so somewhere safe.
I'm not worried about this part but if there is history & culture there then
great If not then thats ok too.
( I've heard the some of the greek Islands cover all of my criteria. Any
thoughts? And which one?)
I know I'm picky but I just want to have a good time and i need a break.

Thanks a million

Come to Micronesia! It's GREAT! Specifically, Pohnpei, in the Federated
Stats of Micronesia....don't know what it would cost you from Ireland, but
I hear from Europe you can fly REALLY cheaply to Manilla or Tokyo...and
from there, you'd fly to Guam to pick-up Continental Micronesia to
Pohnpei...In fact, from Guam (or Hawaii) you can get a special "Circle
Micronesia" fare (they don't call it that anymore, but it's a special fare on
Cont. Micro. fare...)that let's you make stops along the way...Anyway,
once here, you'll find the friendliest people on earth, some of the most
interesting historical/cultural sites (e.g. Nan Madol), it's not expensive,
great snorkeling and diving, etc. Think about it!

Thanks a million. definatly sounds like somewhere that I want to go but it
does sound like it would be a waste to go for just a week. I think I would
like to spend a much longer period of time there.

Because it is only a week I was thinking of somewhere in Europe or
surrounding areas. But I just don't have a clue where.

Hi Alli,

Well, it is not cheap but these Scandinavian countries that I have been spending a lot of time in recently (especially Norway but I might be biased because of my girlfriend :)) are GREAT! I believe you can get a Ryan air flight here for not too much either. Only problem is that staying here (and especially the going out) is really expensive as everything is taxed quite heavily. But there is plenty to see and apparently in the summertime the weather is really good..... safety is no problem at all! A place I also really enjoyed...more your sun and sea type of place is Mallorca (but not the tourist area). I stayed in a place called Paguera which was really nice and quite small back in those days...

As for Micronesia.... hope to be heading there some time this year Psutheta!!!

Think about Spain! I loved it, especially Seville and Jerez (the wine
country...) And come to Micronesia NEXT time....you're right tho'...from
Ireland, it's too much of a trip for just one week ...but let me tell
you...it's DEFINITELY WORTH coming to visit when you just want to see
beautiful waterfalls, fabulous snorkeling and diving, and friendly
people....And, SAM, when are you coming to visit?:)

Hi Alli,

from Ireland you can go a lot of places for practically no money, check www.ryanair.com. Lots of cheapish flights to Denmark and Sweden, yes, Scandinavia is expensive, but you can still stay at a hostel and also eat out cheap. Let me know if you should need any info on Copenhagen, where to stay, where to eat cheap etc.
