Hello,
A friend just won a trip which includes a flight to Vancouver and a 4 night stay at Chateau Fairmont Whistler. Yes!! He invited me to stay along with him in the 5 star lodging. I can't afford a return flight and am thinking of booking a one-way flight back to Toronto from Vancouver instead.
I am planning on hitchhiking from Toronto to Vancouver. Has anyone done the gauntlet of Canadian hitchhiking right across?
If so, please post any stories or ideas or anything that you think may help.
Aside from saving money I think it would be an epic journey.
Is 4 days enough time? Setting off the early morning hours of Tuesday expecting/hoping to arrive on Friday night.
Yes, who knows what can happen; but is this reasonable timeframe?
Much and many thanks
MM

Youd have to be very lucky to get from Toronto to Vancouver in 4 days by hitch hiking,i'd budget at least a week,Hitch hiking out of Toronto may be challenging as hitch hiking is not allowed on any of the expressways, once you get to Sudbury there wont be any more expressways till you get to Vancouver. you may want to Google a list of hostels across Canada as it would be the cheapest place to spend the night.
Or try to get a reduced fare airline ticket by monitoring online discount travel sites.
On a recent trip from Montreal to LA one way within a space of 2 days i saw the cost of a ticket fluctuate from a low of $189 to as high as $1364.
