Thank you so much for all of you that have responded. We are still so lost and dont know where makes the most sense to travel to. On one hand we want to go to east africa and rent a car and drive for 2 weeks
on the other hand we are thinking it makes more sense to go to egypy morocco and lebonon..but not sure about the weather at the end of December --start of Jan.

Thanks again for your help!

I've read your post, and still confused on where to go. If I may suggest, go for Africa. Don't pass up the chance of enjoying the sun in Africa especially being with your partner. :) Hehe, enjoy and best of luck.

Wow, pretty confusing thread.

@ Tomtvl: The question was: which countries/parts of Africa. Africa is a large continent, do you know that?
@ Cooljones: lol: you mean exotic, right, not erotic. Let's hope so

  1. Pmittal/original poster: can you be a little more specific what you want? Like jungle, deserts, cities, arab culture, wildlife etc?

A couple of years ago I spent the winter in Ghana, West-Africa.

Ghana is a really beautiful and pretty safe country to travel. We were two Norwegian girls travelling alone around in the country, and it was never any problems as long as we were a little careful in the evenings/nights. Ghana is also one of the most developed countries in Africa, but still it is "real Africa". Another good thing is that their official language is English, not French (I dont know if you speak French..)!

I can f.ex recommend you to go to Green Turtle Lodge, which is a ECO-lodge by the beach.
It is really beutiful here. You can stay in tents on the beach, look for turtles in the evening or just have long walks along the beach. Very romantic ;) And still you are surrounded by the wonderful African spirit :)

In the north of Ghana you can go on a Safari in Mole national park. Here you can see elephants, crocodiles, monkeys etc and the most beautiful sunset that you can ever imagine!

There are just so many wonderful places to visit in Ghana, and so many friendly people to get to know! Don`t miss it! ;)

Check out my blog for pics (text in Norwegian, so I guess you will not understand!).
