Anyone able to help me find out about playing a bit of golf on the cheap in Hawaii? We'll be staying somewhere in honolulu (a good hostel - any recommendations?) so would like to know where we can indulge our golfing passion for a few dollars.

Incidentally if anyone is in and around the following areas and wants to meet two English lads? Everyone welcome!!

1 Feb – Dallas, USA (then straight to New Orleans for mardi gras until feb 8th, then we are free to tour - hoping to check austin and fort worth out)
22 Feb – Honolulu, USA
06 Mar – Nadi, Fiji
12 Mar – Auckland, New Zealand (Driving down to Wellington)
30 Mar – Melbourne, Australia
14 June – Hong Kong
19 Jun – Bangkok, Thailand
20 Jul – Ruislip Manor, England

When I was looking into hostels in HNL a few years ago, Banana Backpackers kept coming up (or something like that). I ended up staying somewhere else (had a guy come up to me at the airport with a folder of a nice cheap place which ended up being pretty decent too but I can't remember the name for the life of me!) and then moving on to a budget hotel with a few mates. Both were relatively inexpensive and I was actually pleasantly surprised to find out the prices were doable in HNL compared to what I was thinking it was going to cost me...

Sorry, can't help you on the golf situation. You can catch a bus around the whole island for a dollar a day so you should be able to find something pretty easily I'd think :)

Check out this web site which lists all golf courses in Hawaii and the rates for everybody from locals to non-residents, seniors to regulars to juniors, weekends and weekdays.
