I always remember Lee Marvin singing " I Was Born Under A Wandering Star" in the cowboy movie "Paint Your Wagon"
Your Own Special Travel Song
My personal favorite is "Where the streets have no name" by U2. Listen to the lyrics and you will probably feel the need to book the first ticket to anywhere but where you are at the moment. The music itself gives you the feel of wind in your hair, sunlight on your face (like Bono sings), and in general the exciting feel of discovering new lands. Get me out of this Snowland!
"Miles From Nowhere" - Cat Stevens
Didn't have one until I heard Craig David's "I'm walking away". That song captured the reason why I travel. I have it on repeat!
M.
its actually a full album but the soundtrack to 'Underground' , it keeps my spirits up and awake....
"soul to squeeze" by the red hot chilli peppers....
Toploader's 'Dancing in the moonlight'.
although when we were kids the only tapes we used to have in uor car (and hence listen to over and over again) were Buddy Holly, the Beach Boys, Soundtrack to South Pacific and Oklahoma. So whenever i hear any of them i feel that i should be going somewhere!
If me and my friends are going on any long drives now the driver always plays Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It's sort of become a must now. (The Jason Donovan version obviously!!!)
I gotta say, that "dancing in the moonlight" song is one of the cheesiest, most aggravating songs of the past few years. That's only my opinion though, and as everyone else seems to like it, well, what would I know.
As for travel songs, I've gotta few. In know particular order some of them are:
Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac
Under The Bridge - Chilli Peppers
Don't Speak - No Doubt
Sonnet - The Verve
Expresso Love - Dire Straits
...and a whole lot more.
From the final episode of the Australian ABC TV mini-series "Changi":
"... Pack up all my cares & woes, singing low ... BYE BYE BLACKBIRD"
how about 'On The Road Again' hee-hee
