I'm still learning Bulgarian.
I'm up to reading and writing the alphabet fluently - and stringing together small sentences. I'm getting there, albeit at snail pace.

Sounds like my education in Spanish.

I can decipher the written word and understand a good portion of what is spoken slowly. But, I can only speak the basic high school stuff of "How are you?" "I am fine." What is your name?" "My name is XXX." I also know a goodly number of animals, fish, birds, the furniture store and the railway station. Como se llama? (I either asked your name or asked if you were a wooly animal from the Andes. I'm goin' with the name thing.)

Oh, and as for 2011 travels - nothing has changed. Still the back yard and Minnesota in July. Damn, I'm a boring traveler. :(

Hopefully I can get to travel this year and experience different cultures. Happy New Year everyone.

Cheers :)

Sounds like my education in Spanish.

On a trip I did to BG back in 2010, I bought a two alphabet keyboard, which allows me to write in both Bulgarian and English. It's been a great help.
When I'm emailing my friends in BG, I do it in Bulgarian. They understand 'Most' of what I've said - and help me with the corrections.

Of the several trips I did on 3 continents (Europe, N. America and Africa), the best trip for me was the one I've just got back from - hiking in the English Lake District.
Quite diverse weather. Well below zero some days and walking on ice that felt like solid slippery glass - and other days glorious sunshine, just above freezing (still plenty of snow, but softer on foot) and a bowl of home made soup with a locally brewed pint at 2,000feet - before moving on. Wonderful.

I love the lake district. One place in the UK that I really miss.
Last year I got to visit the Philippines as always, the UK, where I am from originally and travelled around Korea where I now live. 2011 plans are to go to the Philippines again in 3 weeks time, can't wait, and to go to Malaysia and Singapore in the summer. Also I really should explore my new home country more, Korea is a great country so I must go and see more of it!
