I've been reading some of the topics already on here so am hoping for some good advice!

I've got the travelling bug so me and my boyfriend are looking to go to round south east Asia for 5 months straight after Xmas! So far the plan of action is flying into Kuala Lumpur then travel up the coast through and around Thailand for approx 2 months before heading to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam (not necessarily in that order) thoughts at the minute is to finish off with a flight to Bali for 2 weeks before having to head home.

Budget is 8 grand between us which won't include the flights, so approx £175 each per week.

Firstly, will that be enough? We hope to have more but working on that as a minimum. We're planning on staying in cheap accommodation and not expecting to much from it. Food wise we're happy to eat where the locals do, after all they'll probably know best!

Secondly, can anyone offer advice on things to definitely see and do and what route to take?

Thanks for any advice you give!

Hi Michelle,

We think you should reduce on your length of stay in each countries. Please consider on the arising and fluctuative fuel price from time to time & other cost in every countries. We suggest you to put up on your holiday budget to antipate many factors. But if its quiet stable, than it will an advantage for you.

Plot your journey from north to southern part of south east Asia countries. You may start your tour from Vietnam (In Hanoi city & out Ho Chi Minh city). Next cross the border to Cambodia (Including Pnompenh, Siam Reap, Luang Prabang). Then onwar to Laos (Vientiene). Cross border to Thailand and visit Bangkok & Pattaya. Next to the northern border line, you may visit Chiang Rai & Chiang Mai before going down south and cruise by boat/ferry to Phuket & Krabi. Next pass Hat Yai city before entering Malaysia & visit Alor Setar at Kedah state. Cruise to Langkawi island or Penang island. Back to the mainland, onward to Ipoh at Perak state. Next visit will be to Cameron Highland in Pahang state. Then continue visiting kuala Lumpur at Federal state after passing Selangor state. Next onward to Malacca at Melaka state. And before cross the border bridge entering Singapore, you could also stop at Johor Bahru at Johor state. End your overland south east Asia peninsula in Singapore.

Fly to Jakarta by best deal airlines offer such as Valuair, Jet Star, Tiger Airways, Sriwijaya Air, Lion Air or Batavia Air. Began your Java overland tour by visiting Bogor, Puncak & Cipanas, Lembang & Bandung, Garut & Pangandaran beach in west Java province. Next onward to Yogyakarta province. Then also visit Semarang & Karimunjawa island in central Java province. Onward to Malang city in east Java province before cross the strait by ferry and entering Bali.

We think it will spend for almost 40 days to covered the entire journey. Those travel itinerary which we would like to suggest or to become one of your references.:)
