the expected and unexpected.

Would be great if i could meet people along the way!

I'm a female, 21 this year. First time backpacking alone

hope to hear from all the fellow backpackers soon!

hi, if you have a trip to Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon, southern of Vietnam, i'll give you some recommendation of where to eat, where to go and stay and which cab that you should take. Whenever you reach Saigon, i show you the way. Vietnam is a nice country, i'm not saying that because i'm a vietnamese :)

Welcome to Vietnam ... I sure that you had a righ selection. It will surely have a lot of interesting things waiting for you. Coming to Vietnam, you will be immersed in the romantic villages, admire the beauty that is incomparable natural gift for Vietnam. Especially the people here are very friendly.

If you come to Vietnam, you should visit the sights of Hanoi, an ancient city, the capital of Vietnam. Hanoi is very beautiful, specially in autumn. Here you can explore the history of Vietnam in thousands of years old, enjoy the delicious traditional cuisine and admire the famous historic sites. You can visit the Temple of literature, the first university in Southeast Asia, a cultural symbol of Vietnam's history and explore the ancient culture here ... Or you can enjoy the beauty of romance while watching the sun set in Hoan Kiem lake, a famous landscape in Hanoi ... and many other attractions waiting to be explored.

If you need, I will be the guide for you for free. I will lead you to visit the famous destinations of Hanoi and suggest to you the culinary traditions of Hanoi

@ Robertjohn: Hey! Thanks for the reminder! I'll keep that in mind and remember to photocopy all the important documents and of course read up enough before i go over.

@amypham: I'll be visiting northern Vietnam this time round because of the short time frame I have but would definitely love to drop by Southern Vietnam on my next trip because I don't think I'll be able to finish Vietnam in a trip. Please do keep in touch with me and I'll update you if I'm going to the southern area(: Also do help me with the many doubts that i have since you will know Vietnam alot better then me

@Dowdy: Yes you know how i feel! I'm really excited!(: But I'm every worried about the weather in July. I've checked many of the books around and on the net. Vietnam in July looks like a really wet season
I'm actually intending to visit Northern Vietnam(Because of Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa- seems like a really beautiful place) but the weather there seems the worst in July. I'm not sure if there are other parts of Vietnam where i can explore without too much of the bad weather damping my travel mood. I'm going during the 3rd week of July. How about you?

@johnny Nyugen: Read my post and you will know I'm really keen on going the northern area and visit those places that you have highlighted. I'll be more then willing to meet new friends :)How about the weather in July? Would it be advisable for me to visit in July?

@hanh_asialink: I have only a week in vietnam. Halong Bay and Hanoi are the must not miss! it looks really wonderful on the net Sapa's view is breathtaking even on pictures. Apart from the north which really attracts me, I'm starting to explore the central and southern region for other attractive backpacking destination. Given the short time, Would i be able to cover north to south? Or is there any areas where you will highly recommend me to go in July with consideration of the weather?

TO EVERYBODY: really great to see all these replies! Its a really lengthy post i know. But its because I'm really so looking forward to it!
Hope to hear from all of you and more of you soon!
