Hi there,

You'll arrive at Schiphol airport. Take a train to Amsterdam
(15 minutes) and enjoy a canal boat tour, visit the Anne
Frank house and perhaps smoke a joint (I don't smoke......).

Take a bustrip to Volendam (30 minutes) and visit the little
harbour and make a typical photo in one of the souvenir shops.

Holland is a small country, so lot's to see and do within
a few hrs travelling.

Give me your interests and time to spend and I'll give you more
detailed advise!

Amsterdam in the summer, definitely the best time. Head to the Vondel park for a nice relaxing day. Or sit out on the Leidsche plein with an ice cold beer.... boy, I wish it was summer!!!

If you have time, try to visit Haarlem, Delft and Leiden (day trips are good).

Amsterdam's lovely. Besides the places gurt mentioned, there are also the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum if you're culturally inclined, the Red Light District, Queen's Palace (can't remember if it's open in the summer), the various churches, shops, beguinhof, flower market, etc.

Exploring the city on foot or on a bike is a good idea. You'll discover a lot more than you expected!

Don't go to Volendam, but visit the little city next to it. Edam is what it's called. In summer they have cheesemarkets for tourists which are pretty interesting and it actually still is a beautifull town. Volendam doesn't have any of it's old culture anymore. All destroyed. It's nice though to take the boat from Volendam to Marken. Marken is a very little town with a beautifull lighthouse.

Visit the markets ('Albert Cuyp', 'Noordermarkt', 'Dappermarkt', The Flee-market on Waterlooplein) to meet the people. Just go around the city by foot or by hired bicycle. Rest a while on one of the widely spread terraces of bars or restaurants.
Also you can easily spent a day at the North sea beach of Zandvoort for a swim, a drink, sunbathing; easy to reach by train from Amsterdam Central Station.

Amsterdam is great i love it there.

Last time i was there we wandered around and found a church tower that was doing tours up it and when we got to the top we had the most amazing view of the city. It really pays just to wander and take in the city... u find the best things there.

We also went to the markets and found some real bargains.

hav fun
