I'm going to be in Mendoza together with my brother soon, and we're having some trouble finding accommodation that speaks to us. Looked through all highly rated properties on travellerspoint, but none quite manage to convince. What mostly turns us off is the party-vibe most places have, with free wine being offered everywhere and reviews saying things like "noisy, though quiet time of 1 AM is respected" (call me older than I was back in my early twenties, but on this trip I'd like to be asleep well before 1 AM :)).
Yes, we're going to Mendoza to have a nice relaxing time and drink high quality Malbec, but after wine tasting and a bottle shared between the two of us during a sumptuous dinner, that's quite enough wine for a day; if a place thinks it becomes more attractive by offering more glasses of (no doubt) cheap wine afterward, that's probably not really the type of place we're looking for.

So, what are we looking for? Someplace relatively central, relatively quiet, relatively clean. Good mattresses a plus, and a garden (or rooftop terrace!) with hammocks a major plus. We want to lounge and relax after three weeks of near non-stop hiking. So far on this trip we've mostly been going for accommodation with a twin room in the 200-250 pesos per night price range, but a bit more is no objection if the place deserves it, and if someone knows a real budget place which still hits the requirements, that's obviously fine as well.

So, anyone with personal experience who can recommend something? It would be very much appreciated!

I stayed at Chalet de Bassi in Mendoza. The people there are great. The place is beautiful. Not sure about hammock though there is an outside patio. It is a little away from downtown, but public transpo etc are accessed right on the street in front of the hostel.

I loved mendoza and would move there in a heartbeat!

Have a great time,

Mike
