I'm going to the Full Moon Party this May 18th - can anyone reccommend anywhere good to stay?

Looking for good location and cheap to average price range?

I always stay at Sea Garden Resort which is in the perfect location and also has a wide cjoice of rooms from basicn fan rooms with share bathrooms for 300 baht a night, up to more expensive air-con rooms with TV, etc. It's about 100 metres behind the beach (behind Drop In Bar) so less than two minutes and you're in the thick of the action, but at the same time it's far enough away that you can't hear the music from the beach so if you want to go to sleep before 6am then you can.

Also the staff are really friendly and helpful. I was stuck there during the recent floods in southern Thailand and the owner was ringing round every day to find out what was happening to help people get off the island and keeping us all informed.

The only problem is that you can't pre-book their budget rooms so if you want one of their cheaper rooms you have to turn up in person and hope they have a vacancy. Over Full Moon the cheap rooms fill up really quickly but they've also started managing some rooms right behind Drop In Bar as well recently which are also 300 baht a night. My mate stopped in one of these rooms though, and he reckoned with the benefit of hindsight he would have paid a couple of extra hundred baht to get somewhere a bit further back from the beach where it's a bit quieter.

Other places I'd recommend are Coral Bungalows and Same Same Resort. Coral Bungalows is on Sunset Beach, so it's a ten minute walk to Sunrise Beach where the Full Moon party is, but it's a cool place with cheap rooms and a pool, and it's quite sociable. They also have pool parties there which are worth going to.

Same Same is just behind Sunrise Beach (maybe 150 metres) so it's in an excellent location.

There's also a few other places on the road behind Sunrise Beach (just along from Chicken Corner) that have cheap rooms, Bongo Bungalows, Haad Rin Hil and Anan Bungalows, which are worth trying.

Also, I don't know what your plans are but I would recommend getting to Haad Rin a few days before Full Moon cos the build up is excellent as well. Every night down the beach you can feel the atmosphere building up as it gets busier and busier.

I'll be there. I'm trying to get a bungalow @ Phangan Beach Resort .. not near Had Rinn ... because I don't want to stay there during the party .. just in case. About 25 mins from the party, and 1200B a night.

I have my booking in Same Same Resort which is an excellent location to stay.
And it's nearest to some beach locations too...
Hope you will enjoy the stay...

Yeah Ankitjha, I would agree that Same Same is a cool place to stay.

LaurenLoiz, I'm not sure what you mean by 'just in case.' I would recommend staying in Haad Rin for the convenience. The only concern I can think of is if you mean there's the chance of rooms getting broken into in Haad Rin, but this can happen anywhere on the island. Also, some resorts have lockers where you can leave your valuables, and for example Sea Garden Resort have a security guard on Full Moon night.

JUST IN CASE I WANT TO SLEEP ..... please people stay on Samui and still come to the party. It doesn't matter, where you stay. Had Rin will be as noisy as shit, and if you want to sleep @ 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am, then 1. dont stay in Had Rin, 2. get ear plugs, 3. GOOD LUCK trying to snooze. I'm 18 so I would like to sleep come around 2-3am. And uh .. staying up all night drinking, ya know, is really cool!
