I have never traveled anywhere and I’m super nerves about a trip I’m planning for mid September to Australia. I’m scared I’m going to get there and be alone and have no idea what to do with myself an everything I planned out will go out the window and I will just be lost. I don’t want to end up being the weird people with a backpack and a book. Does anyone have advice on how to calm my nerves?
First time traveler going alone
Hey,
I am going to Australia on the 19th September. I am also travelling alone and really worried!!!!
I have also travelled alone when I was 18 to New Zealand for my internship. In the beginning it is quite scary, but once you get going, you are really going to enjoy it! Trust me You'll meet new people so you won't be totally alone!
Just find a load of people at your hostel or wherever you're staying and hang around with them :-). You'll love it! There is a good chance stuff you've planned will go out the window as you start to just go with what you feel like whilst out there!
ey Allison,
I think you should read this recent post by someone who had bigger fears than you have had:
Travel intimidations - Revisited
I feel you will find it enlightening.
Enjoy the adventures!
Why don't you take one of the several bus tours designed for youth in OZ? That way you'll have other kids to hang with and it will be more fun. I found that one with google in about 2 seconds.
(when you get this old, you too will call everyone under 40 a "kid")

Breathe and jump.
