I am backpacking for the first time with my boyfriend for 5 weeks in Europe beginning on the 2nd of August (in 2 weeks!).

Our itinerary is still in the works, and I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys!

We are spending a week in London since I have family there, but here are the other places we plan on going...

1. Paris (Arriving the 9th of August)
2. Milan
3. Florence
4. Venice
5. Rome
6. Cinque Terre
7. Barcelona
8. Madrid (Returning home from Madrid)

Is this stretching us too thin? For 4 weeks of travel. We have a Eurail Pass for 6 days of travel in 2 months (hoping to do night trains). Also, we are on a tight budget as we are college students -- but will want to go out at nighttime for sure. Definitely up for a ton of walking and sightseeing, and are staying in hostels for the most part.

Any tips on travel, itinerary ideas would be amazing.

Thank you!

You will be fine. It's gonna be a bit rushed, but most people rush Europe even faster than that so I think you will be ok. Those are all great cities as well. Well...Milan is a bit boring, but if you like opera you should def go to Le Scala. While you are in Florence you can jump on a train and visit Pisa for the day. I love that city! And Barclona is amazing. Plan to spend quite a few days there if you can.

The itinerary looks fine. I don't think it is too rushed especially if you plan on taking night trains. You should try to spend at least three or four days in Rome, Barcelona and Paris. I don't think Venice, Milan and Madrid need too much time. Two days should be sufficient for each.
