I'm planning some travels for 2012 and want to visit India in January and February.

I was thinking of spending four weeks in the north and four weeks in the south and need a travel buddy to come with me! I'm then moving on to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam

If anybody is interested in joining me for some/all of the way please let me know!

Hi Katie,
What place you are planning to visit. I might visit Kerala and Lakshadeep during Jan-Feb and I am based out of Mumbai.
Let me know if you have anything in mind which covers coastline, photography... I am game for it.

I could spend 4 years in India and never see enough! I done this exact same trip 4 years ago. My tips:

Delhi was manic and stressful, don't stay here long

Agra is a dump, but the Taj Mahal is beautiful and majestic so worth a visit

Golden Triange in Rajhasthan a highlight, but do it yourself. Loads of people will try and sell you tours / a driver. We got the train the whole way round, it's cheap and you travel to your own timetable. Watch out for people trying to scam you.

Goa is amazing - my highlights were Vagator and Benaulim. Try and avoid Baga and Calangute, they're very touristy.

One thing you HAVE to do whilst in Goa is spend a couple of days in Hampi. It's about a 6hr train ride from... somewhere in the middle of Goa can't remember the name. It's amazing!!

Have a great time

If traveling in india.... one can do in whatever budget...
I am based out of Mumbai and travel alot.. I have traveled almost all parts of India... and helped alot of my foreign travelers ...

Well India can be traveled in very luxury way and also in budget way... depends what u want and what u seek while traveling.... every corners offers great variety...

As indian My fave are:
Rajasthan - for Deserts, Forts, History, Culture
Goa - Beach Party
Kerala - Wild life, backwaters, beach, ayurveda...

there are other interesting spot which attracts foreigners which are:
Leh Ladakh - for bike riders
Bodh Gaya - For Buddha origin
Dharmashala - For Tibetan Tribe and Dalai Lama
Khajuraho - For Kamasutra, history of sex.. etc....

if you are looking for premium accommodation then probably internet hotel booking is good option... from website like or indian website such as or ....

domestic travel is good to plan in advance... as during high season domestic flights are quite an expensive affair and railways reservation is always over crowded ....

tell me places you guys want to visit; i will tell you basic pricing of commute and stay in that area...

and i feel sad to say... dont trust locals.... an average indian on street thinks all white skin foreigners are millionaire and try to fleece you and cheat you... so be careful....

tell me specifics... i would love to help you guys...
