Hey peeps!

I am looking at coming to Australia in January! I haven't booked anything yet? Is that a going to be enough time?

Next, where is the cheapest place to fly into? Or is it a case of the best place v the cheapest?

I will be coming alone too!

How much money do people take with them? I am not afraid of some hard work once I get over there!

Thanks guys, plenty of questions to follow!

You have time to book Australia but you should do it soon.

Probably Sydney is best to fly into as it is fairly central. Distances are quite big there so if you do want northern Australia, fly in there.

Not a lot of work about and many tourists do arrive (with work visas) hoping to have a long stay there helped by work.

Here is a place which does need workers and pay is good but not everyone's first choice:
How much money? Enough for accommodation, food and travel for the length of your proposed stay if you do not find work. It depends on accommodation you choose, what you eat and drink, travel, and nights out, etc. In other words, take as much as you can, with some credit cards.

I'm flying into perth - it was about £100 cheaper (plus the flight's a lot shorter). I'm only taking about £3000, because I'm intending on starting work after christmas anyway. I've got bits and bobs of part time work planned too, although I've no real idea of how much I'll make from that. Seasonal work seems to be really common - there's no shortage of vineyards and, if I remember correctly, if you do some fruit picking then you can stay in the country for an extra year.
