Im going to Australia next year Aug time for 5 weeks. Im going to go down the East Coast and do as much as I can in that time. I realise i'll be travelling quite a bit so will only be in each place for a few nights at the most. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what I should pre book when i go in to book my flights. I dont want to be booking trips/tours etc and then my plans change. Should I book my first couple of nights accomodation through the travel agent when I book the flights or should I just book the flights and do everything else seperately?? I dont have a set agenda, Just gonna take things as they come as I realise I will meet people and who knows what will happen or where i'll go next.. Please help! I plan on flying into Cairns and working my way down.

Hi Lisa,

I would say just book your flights and then do the rest separately. For what it is worth, the best hostel I stayed in was in Cairns. It is called Travellers Oasis, if you google it you can probably book up your accommodation there online.

Booking trips/tours as you go is easy, and probably cheaper than doing it via a travel agent.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks, I'll check that hostel out and keep a note of it for nearer the time.

That's what I thought the best idea would be, I don't want to be booking a week long tour for the 1st week then decide to move on earlier or anything like that.

Thanks :)
