What are the best camping spots in France for this summer?:)

Where? Beach? Mountains? Near a town? Have you got a car?

There are camping sites all over France, usually with nothing to do with each other.

Pick an area and do a search for camping sites there.

This summer? Very late if you want August but September when most have gone home should be OK.

Weather has been fairly poor in France this summer, so south?

Here's a site that shows you all of them.
A few locations that I think are nice:
Near the dune du pylat might be fun. You can climb the dune and camp nearby - search as there are loads and you need a reservation and its not cheap.
You'll be close to arcachon which has loads of restos etc., and a cuter town called la teste where they have the oyster shacks, yummy! The beach on the atlantic south of pyla is gorgeous. There is windsurfing, kitesurfing, hang gliding, etc. nearby plus you can get out on a lot of different boats and explore the bassin there - its really a treasure. I've never seen anything before like the dune, its incredible. Went there a few weeks ago.
Plus, further down south on the coast from there you could go to St. Jean de Luz, what a beautiful and perfect Basque town just south of Biarritz and camp nearby - of course there is camping in nearly every single town and village in France. North on the coast you can go to one of the islands, Ile de Re is a favorite and you can camp there right on the beach. The island is stunning - one of the wonders of France, but the beaches aren't as nice as they are on the rest of the atlantic coast.
Enjoy the end of summer!
