Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific.

Hello out there!

I am a Canadian, male, and beginning to plan my 1 + years of travelling abroad. My main area of focus is the Asia Pacific and the Oceania area. I would like to begin my travels within Thailand. I want to rent a beach hut like i hear everyone does and just live off local markets and just take it easy off the beaten trail. I will do Bangkok, but Im not too interested in the city life. From there I would like to head to Indonesia, not sure how long, but I would like to check out some surfing in Jakarta. Then I look south, to Australia, where I will find work, whatever it is. I hear Hamilton Island and other islands like that are great for work. However, 6 month contracts are the norm, so Im not sure I want that. New Zealand will be a trip I will take during my stay in Australia, but Im not too focused on that part of my trip as of yet. I would also love to fly out to the Fijian Islands and lounge around the beaches.

Anyways, thats my prospective trip in a nutshell. If anyone has any info as to how I should focus on my route, best transportation, accommodation or any other things I could check out, please let me know!

If you get any information about beach huts etc in Thailand please post it on here! I'm planning for my trip starting in October, and your trip is fairly similar to mine, so any info you get would be very appreciated! I'm just being lazy by not starting a forum x

if you want to do surfing in Indonesia, i will recommend you to go to Bali instead of Jakarta, and im sure you will falling in love with Bali

When are you going out there? myself and Bf are heading over in a months time unsure where to go cause there are so many places to visit!!!

About a years time, and the trip will be for longer than a year. Please keep in touch and share your experiences :D

I'll be doing the same thing next year except adding south america to the trip at the end! :-). How are you plans going? I don't know where to start with mine!

Hey, been looking around trying to put final pieces into my plans, and just been informed by my cousin that one of her clients has a vacation bungalow in Bali (as it's only an £11 flight from Singapore). So the hunt for beach bungalows in Thailand for me isnt going too well, but chuffed that I've now got free accomm in Bali for December. Any luck with your plans? Are you planning to work for a while in Oz/know anyone out there? x

My plans are pretty much the same. But Ive been hearing great things of Bali and i definitely want to visit. I think Im going to work in OZ for a minimum of 6 months. I have no preference on job type, just for a few extra bucks. I have a few friends and family in Australia so I may look into visiting them for a bit. How are your plans coming along? Are you thinking of working in OZ? I know its still sometime before I leave, but I am sooo pumped and Im going to plan this perfectly!

Adding South America was actually an idea of mine. Specifically Argentina, it would be sooo rad to do so. When are you planning on leaving for your travels?
