Hi travellers,

I am planning to backpack south America in October 2011. I have no specific place nor do I have the luxury of time in South America due to that I just wanna do a pre- tour of South America (hip-hopping between the countries, maybe when I have time I can do the 4 months thing but now its impossible for me but I still wanna see as many countries as possible by road). I am planning to backpack as many major cities as possible .. planning to Fly into Rio and then backpacking my way , not sure which country I will end up in but I will have to fly back to Rio for my flight back ..

so has anyone ever backpacked as between countries in South America if so , can you suggest a route I can take, at present I am looking at flying in and out of Brazil no final plans yet.

I will appreciate your advise on this issue

In South America Colombia and Bolivia (and Peru) are good spots to discovers and beeing cheap places allow to spent more time traveling if you are in budget.
Happy travel

Best time to be in rio and brazil is clearly FEB during the Carnaval so choose your destination wisely.

best place to start on October ? PERU just before the rainy season starts
then maybe to chiler & argentina and end your trip in BRAZIL

or Peru -> Ecuador -> Colobia and then Brazil
