Star this if you like it!
I'm leaving for Thailand on the 3rd October and looking to do my visa. I think I'll be in the country for longer than 30 days, plus I'm travelling down and will be getting a train from Krabi to Kuala Lumpur so I don't have 'proof of an onward flight'. Do I have to get a tourist visa for up to 90 days at £28? And also I've been looking at the requirements/application form which requires me to send it off with my passport to Birmingham, but I'm a bit sketchy about sending my passport through the mail as I also need to sort out my whv for australia too.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I don't have long and I'm stressing out over packing, buying stuff, injections I need and visas!

Hey!
I know for Aussies we can just get ours issued at the airport upon arrival in Thailand, but it looks like you gotta fill out a form and send it to the Thailand embassy in the UK!
Heres the link for the form

Just get a tourist visa for 90 days, pretty sure in thailand they have a 30 day visa (the one i got at the airport), cant remember if i paid anything or not!
Ps dont send you passport in the mail, most places should accept a photocopy, make one for yourself incase you lose it on your travels!!
Call the embassy if you have any problems, i just got a visa for Vietnam and it took 3 days from the Australian embassy!

Yeah dont need one for Thailand if you have a Britain Passport!
"Passport holders of the countries listed below are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit. "
40. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (United Kingdom: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

Thanks for all the info, I think I'll be exceeding the 30 day limit, not too sure yet, got a bit more research to do tonight and then I'll be able to definately know by the weekend to get my visa sorted.
I've heard a lot of good things about Melbourne, my bestie is out in Oz at the mo and she keeps returning to Melbourne so it's definately on my list but as for NYE there, unless you know of anyone willing to help out a stranger I think I'm gonna have to stick to the ridiculously expensive Sydney.
Thanks for all that great information

Hmm, just wrote a reply, but seems like it didnt work. that sucks...
Pretty sure you can only get a 60 day tourist visa, well thats all an Aussie can get. Id just do a border run once your here if you need more time - Maylasia, Cambodia or Laos depending on where you are. They are pretty cheap and will give you another 15 days if you cross a land border or 30 by air (though this is a fair bit more expensive).
Injections. (MMR) Measels, mumps, rubella. Thyphoid and Polio. Hep and Hep B - you will prob need the rapid schedule, or a combined dose i think as its usaully given over the course of a few months. Tetanus and dyphtheria - if you havent had in the last 10 years. Check with your GP, you might have already had a few of them.
Packing - if you cant fit all your stuff into carry on, your packing too heavy. End of story!! Your going to be travelling when the weathers good, so you shouldnt need to much stuff. Less clothes, wash more often. Dont be one of those girls that you always see trying to carry lug around a backpack that prob weighs as much as she does and a has a daypack attached to the front of her as well. The only exception ill say is as your travelling to Thailand you prob wanna buy heaps of stuff - its so cheap here. Just buy another bag while your here to fit all you extra clothes into, though if it was me....id do this on the return trip home.
As for the whole Melb, Syd thing....do you have friends in Sydney?? Melb is way better than Sydney, much better nightlife, though the beaches in Syd are a little better. I might be a touch biased though
