I'm looking into doing a tour in Southern Africa and lots of them state the accommodation as being 'participatory camping'. Does this mean that you are expected to put up your own tents each night and cook your own food? Do these kinds of campsites tend to be more basic than those which are 'non- participatory'?
Participatory camping
Participatory camping -it will mean that you will be putting up your own tents and helping out with the kitchen - shopping in the local markets, planning meals, peeling veg, washing up etc,.
Non-participatory is the opposite -you don't have to do anything!
